WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - A new report from the Centers For Disease Control shows a majority of Americans are using the internet for healthcare reasons.

In the second half of last year, about 6 in 10 adults looked up health or medical information, with women more likely than men to use the web. And nearly half of 30 to 44 year olds are using the internet to connect with a doctor’s office.

Getting good sleep year-round can help prevent dementia, according to Australian researchers.

Just a one percent reduction in deep sleep per year leads to a 27 percent increased risk in people over 60 years old. Researchers say deep sleep, also known as slow wave sleep, helps clear metabolic waste from the brain, including proteins connected to Alzheimer’s disease.

And a stress hormone released by the brain during alcohol withdrawal is part of the process that causes headaches, according to researchers from the university of Texas, san Antonio. They hope the findings lead to a drug therapy to inhibit the pain signals and help those suffering from alcohol use disorder avoid drinking to cure a hangover.
