Dino Babers out at S.U. Football Coach
SYRACUSE, New York (WWNY) - After 8 years and a number of late season slides, Dino Babers’ tenure as head coach of the Syracuse University Football Team came to an end Sunday.
The school made the announcement in a press release less than 12 hours after the Orange lost to Georgia Tech 31-22 to drop to 5-6 on the season.
Syracuse has lost 5 of their last 6 games after starting out a perfect 4-0, something that had become the norm under Babers the past few seasons.
Babers was 41-55, but more importantly, just 20-45 in ACC play during his tenure and Babers only posted 2 winning seasons at Syracuse.
Tight Ends Coach Nunzio Campanile was named interim coach for the team’s final game against Wake Forest and the bowl game if Syracuse wins on Saturday.
The school announced a search is underway for Babers’ replacement.
