IHC loses international soccer program

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Immaculate Heart has hosted an international group of soccer players for the last few years as part of an agreement with a sports academy.

That agreement has come to an end. It’s the loss of some talented student athletes who have become part of the school.

In the 2020-21 school year, Immaculate Heart entered into a contract with Black Rock Soccer Program. IHC managed the program’s operations, including the residential, academic, and financial aspects.

Starting with the 2022-2023 school year, the Black Rock association with Immaculate Heart was taken over by RCSA Holdings and became the Sports Academy. That relationship is coming to an end.

RCSA Holdings was formed by then-athletic director Jared Wilson in the summer of 2022. The forming of that business in part was to house a number of athletes that would attend IHC.

Then on November 3, Wilson, now president of RCSA Holdings, contacted the school that the Sports Academy would discontinue its residential soccer program citing financial, administrative, and staff challenges.

That decision has left the student athletes under that program in limbo as to what their next move is.

Like other private schools, Immaculate Heart is always looking for revenue streams. In this case, becoming a landing spot for student athletes from other countries.

Immaculate Heart feels it will get over this latest hurdle in fine form.
