Highlights & scores: Section III & Section X soccer playoff action

(WWNY) - Section III and Section X soccer playoffs continued Wednesday night.

Lyme met Hamilton in a boys’ Section III Class D semifinal at South Jefferson.

- Hamilton strikes first when Levi Neuenschwander puts home the rebound. It’s 1-0 Hamilton.

- Hamilton adds to its lead when Nico Hay dents the back of the net on the doorstep. It’s now 2-0.

Hamilton goes on to beat Lyme 3-0.

Ogdensburg hosted Salmon River in a boys’ Section X Class B semifinal.

- In the eighth minute, from the corner kick and cross, Carter Johnson heads up into the net. It’s 1-0 Shamrocks.

- The Blue Devils look to equalize, but Colin Brenno’s shot is stopped.

- From midfield, the boom ball bounces over the head of goalie Xavier Delmorier, who leaps and saves. Carter Johnson scores again.

Salmon River blanks OFA 2-0.

Gouverneur was at Canton for another boys’ Section X Class B semi.

- It was scoreless through the first 31 minutes. Ryan Jones sets up Josh McLear for the scoring blast. It’s 1-0 Canton.

- Just a minute later, Ethan Francey struck the second goal.

- Then it’s Jones from Tom Husinec. It’s 3-0 Bears.

- In the scrum, Ashton Currier scored for the Wildcats. It’s 3-1 Canton at the break.

- Eighteen seconds into the second half, Francey scores from Jones for his 37th assist, extending his single-season Canton boys’ team record.

- Francey scores his fourth goal, making 31 for the season, also setting a new single-season school record.

- Then Jones from Jacob Rosales makes it 5-1.

Canton defeats Gouverneur 9-1

It was Massena vs. Malone for the boys’ Section X Class A championship.

- Cross to the middle, Ben Poupore buries the shot with 2:07 left in the half. It’s 1-0 Malone.

- But it’s all Massena in the second half: Drew Smutz, Brady Frost, Luke Eddy and Nate Paige net four unanswered goals.

Massena beats Malone 4-1.

Beaver River met Cooperstown in a girls’ Section III class C semi.

- The game goes to a shootout. Naomi Roggie dents the back of the net.

- Then it’s Natalie Hughes going top shelf for the tally.

- Rory Nelen misses.

That gives Beaver River a 4-3 win and a trip to the Class C final.

It was Massena vs. Malone for the girls’ Section X Class A championship.

- With the game tied 1-1 in overtime, Massena goal scorer Sydney Rochefort gets a chance to end it, but the save is made.

- Makayla Farmer gets another chance for the Raiders, but the ball is tipped wide.

- Brooke LaPlante scores the golden goal in the lower left-hand corner with 4:30 remaining.

Malone defeated Massena 2-1 in overtime.
