In Region 3 post-season soccer action from the turf at JCC, the Cannoneers hosted Jamestown Community College in opening round play.

But that would be the Cannoneers lone goal on the day. Jamestown would score 3 unanswered goals and ends the Cannoneers season 3-1.

JCC finishes the season with a 7-8 overall record.

The Inaugural North Country Coaches Clinic took place Saturday at LaFargeville Central School.

Some of the best college and high school coaches in the area were on hand to speak to local coaches about certain aspects of the game like the zone defense, the 1-3-1 zone defense, motion offense, fast break transition, attacking zones and developing shooters and perimeter players.

A portion of the proceeds from the event benefitted Coaches versus Cancer and the American Cancer Society.

LaFargeville Boys’ Basketball Coach Jay Shimel, who put together the event, says it’s something he’d like to see happen yearly and feels it’s important for both players and coaches.

”I think it’s really important for our coaches to develop and always be learning. In turn, that’s going to make our students and athletes better, not only on the court, but off the court. So, we’re really growing our adult leaders and our future adults and children,” said Shimel.
