Friday Sports: Indian River downs General Brown on home turf

PHILADELPHIA, New York (WWNY) - It was the last Football Friday Night of the regular season for high school teams. Meanwhile, the Section 3 Soccer Playoffs continue.

We start with a Section 3 crossover game from Philadelphia as Indian River hosted General Brown.

It was the Warriors with an early turnover as Derek Jones fumbled and the Lions Dawson Rastley fell on the ball.

That sets up an Aiden McManaman touchdown pass to Ryan Chamberlain: 8-0 Lions.

The Warriors tie it up when Fred Haynes takes it in from a couple of yards out: 8-all.

Indian River capitalized on a Lions miscue and the handoff exchange is fumbled. Brady Lynch picks it up and takes it the distance.

Indian River beats General Brown 46-14.

In Section 3 Class D Football from Beaver Falls, Beaver River hosted Herkimer.

In the 1st quarter, the Beavers were down 6-0 when Derrick Zehr calls his own number and scores from a yard out: 6-all.

Still in the 1st, it was 14-6 Herkimer when Zehr connects with Josh Bush for the touchdown: tying the game at 14.

In the 2nd quarter, Zehr finds Brit Dicob who makes a great catch in the end zone: 20-14 Beavers.

Beaver River beats Herkimer 50-21.

In NAC Football, Ogdensburg at Potsdam with top seed in the Class B playoffs on the line.

In the first quarter, Madden West bounces the lateral to Teagan Frederick who launches a 35-yard TD pass: 7-0 OFA.

A hand off to Andrew Lofller goes up the middle for an eight-yard score: 14-0 Blue Devils.

Then it was West with the short pass to Loffler who then scampers 35-yards to paydirt: 21-0.

Potsdam’s touchdown came midway in the fourth quarter as Liam Miller-Lynch jetted 30 yards to score.

Ogdensburg went on to beat Potsdam 27-8.

Also in NAC Football, it was St. Lawrence Central at Malone.

It was Logan Peck to Carson West on a 20-yard pass play to the house: 8-0 Huskies.

Then it was Evan LaBrake on a one-yard touchdown scramble, game tied 8-8.

Next, it was Peck on the one-yard keeper as he puts the Huskies back on top 16-8. It was Peck again, this time to Jordan Perry for the 12-yard reception.

Peck then reels off Trent Carriero on a 17-yard pass. And it was Peck to Carriero who tiptoes inside the end zone.

Final Score: Malone 36, St. Lawrence Central 8.

In the Boys’ Section 3 Class A Soccer playoffs from Adams, South Jeff hosted Vernon Verona Sherrill High School.

In the 2nd half, the game was scoreless when James King comes up with the loose ball in the box and buries the blast: 1-0 Spartans.

King would add another as South Jeff beats VVS 2-1.

In Boys’ Section 3 Class B Playoffs from Lowville, the Red Raiders met Solvay.

Solvay strikes first when Joshua Chipman dents the back of the net off the indirect kick: 1-0 Solvay.

Lowville ties it up when Ryan Meleshchuk goes top shelf from close range: 1-all.

Lowville advances, beating Solvay 3-1

In the Boys’ Section 3 Class D Playoffs from Copenhagen, Lyme took on Mater Dei.

Mater Dei gets on the board early when James Ermold rips yarn putting Mater Dei up 1-0.

But Jonny LaFontaine would score 3 goals in the 2nd half for the Lakers as Lyme moves on, beating Mater Dei 3-1.
