Esther E. Smith, 96, of Massena

MASSENA, New York (WWNY) - Esther E. Smith, 96, resided at North Country NH Massena, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the Massena Hospital.

Esther was born on August 31, 1927, in Malone, daughter of the late Floyd C. and Mildred B. (LaMay) Sherman.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo, puzzles, and word search. In her younger years she enjoyed camping, bullhead fishing, dancing, and country music. Most of all she cherished her time with her family and grandchildren.

Esther is survived by her six children David Smith of Florida; Ronald (Marcia) Smith of Massena; Al Thomas Smith of San Diego, CA; Valerie (Gary) Amo of Massena; Yvonne (Gary) Bandy of Norfolk; and Alison (Marty) Robinson of Madrid; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and her aunt Annie Van Kennan of Massena.

Besides her parents Floyd and Mildred, Esther was also predeceased by a daughter Nancy in infancy; and two siblings Annabelle Plante and Chester Sherman, and one grandson Dustin.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral service at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Louisville.
