Catherine A. Benware, 78, formerly of Gouverneur

GOUVERNEUR, New York (WWNY) - Catherine A. Benware, 78, formerly of W. Barney Street died peacefully on Thanksgiving Day Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Carthage, NY. She was born on December 9, 1944, in Theresa, New York to the late Jerome & Sarah Pauline (Hatch) House.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and her services will be held privately by her family.

Catherine graduated from Indian River High School. Two marriages ended in divorce. She retired as a Quality Control Manager after 25 years of dedicated service in 2003 from Car-Freshener in Watertown, New York.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Damon) June, Richville, NY; her two sisters, Josephine Covalle, Florida; and Marie Brown, North Carolina and 4 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter, JoAnne White.

She volunteered at the Mosaic Mental Health Clinic in Ogdensburg and the St. James Catholic School in Gouverneur.
