ADAMS CENTER, New York (WWNY) - Gary R. Belcher, Adams Center passed away peacefully Sunday, November 19, at the age of 72, at his home with his family by his side.

Gary was born in Watertown, NY on July 9, 1951, the son to the late Roswell and Elizabeth Hanson Belcher. Gary was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He graduated from South Jefferson High School in 1970, and married the love of his life, Nancy Armstrong on June 27, 1970, at Holy Family Church, Watertown.

He began his long career in the automotive industry working as a mechanic and service manager at various locations across the North Country.

Gary had a love of the outdoors. He was a lifelong fisherman, hunter and enjoyed his time at camp (Old Man’s Watch), with his family and his best friend Corky.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy, Adams Center, son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Karen Belcher, Mexico; daughter Beth and Scott Wilson, Rodman. He was a proud grandfather to Kaitlyn and Mackenzie Belcher, Garrett LaVere and Maggie Wilson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Ron Belcher.

A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, December 3rd at the Adams VFW starting at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gary’s memory to Hospice of Jefferson Co., 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601.
