POTSDAM, New York (WWNY) - Betty J. Kingsley, 87, of 2115 State Highway 11B, peacefully passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at her home.

Betty was born on April 28, 1936, in Sterling Pond, daughter of the late Walter and Amanda (Lottie) Wilson.  She married Robert Kingsley on December 19, 1969, in Hopkinton.  Robert predeceased her on April 22, 2003.

She was a communicant of Living Waters Church and Knapps Station Community Church.  Betty was a certified nurse’s aide working at the Potsdam Nursing Home and later as a cook at Ellie’s Diner.  She enjoyed quilting, cooking and playing bingo, canasta and many other card games.  She loved her animals and feeding people, especially her famous pies.

Betty is survived by her four children Amanda Wilson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Diane (Jim) Salusky-Miklosi of Spring Hill, FL; Leslie (James) Klein of Miami, FL; and Dawn (Rob) Phippen of Potsdam; three grandchildren Jaime, Alex and Jessica; and five siblings Joyce Planty of Parishville; Kenny Wilson of Chapel Hill; Louie Wilson of Pennsylvania; Lloyd Wilson of Hopkinton and Nancy Harper of Potsdam.

Besides her parents Walter and Amanda, Betty was also predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Trombley and Ernestine Tebo, and five brothers Sumner, Robert, Donald, Ronald and Floyd Wilson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Betty’s memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral service.  Burial services will be held privately at Chapel Hill Cemetery.  A Celebration of life will take place next summer at a time to be announced.
