OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) - Claire B. Marlow, age 79 of Ogdensburg, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice.

Claire was born on January 12, 1944, at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Henry and Winifred (Sholette) Bouchard.  Claire graduated high school in 1960 at age 16 from St. Mary’s Academy, Ogdensburg with a school degree.  She attended Mrs. Massic’s Business School in the summer after graduation.  She then attended Ogdensburg Free Academy for one year for post-graduate secretarial courses.

She married Lawrence D. Marlow on April 11, 1964, at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg with Father W.E. LaVallee officiating.  A reception was held at The Lodge in Morristown, NY.  They honeymooned for three weeks throughout the New England states.  Sadly, Larry predeceased her on August 24, 2010, on his own terms, from complications from diabetes.

Claire worked as a secretary at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center from 1961 until the birth of her second child in 1967.  While busy raising her six children, her work didn’t stop there.  Claire was often busy in the family business, Al Marlow & Sons, gathering and grading eggs, planting and picking some type of fruit or vegetable or working at the vegetable stand.  Claire could be seen at the Ogdensburg Bowl either bowling or keeping score or she could be seen on a softball field cheering on her husband, and later sons, usually keeping the team scorebook.  Claire drove school bus during her and Larry’s years of owning and running Marlow’s Bus Corporation.  Claire worked for Miracle Ear with her husband and then later her son, Stephen.

She enjoyed her time being a wife and mother and later, a grandmother and great grandmother.  She enjoyed reading Harlequin Romance novels, playing solitaire, doing crossword puzzles, scratch-off tickets and playing games, especially Aggravation, Yahtzee and Skip-Bo.  She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  She had a great love of family!

Claire is survived by her children, Sue Bouchey, Tammy (Rick) Carr, Doug (Kathy) Marlow all of Ogdensburg; Steve (Elizabeth) Marlow of Richville and Robin (Dan) Hayes of Gotha, Florida.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Lawrelle, at age 15, from a tragic accident on the first day of school.  Her grandchildren, Amanda Carr, Paul (Krystal) Marlow, Kaycee Cameron, Andrew Carr, Ryan (Lesley) Bouchey, Patrick (Celeste) Hayes, Adam (Adriania) Bouchey and Zackery Marlow.  Great grandchildren: Peyton Marlow, Alexia Carlin, Elena Guzman, Kayla Marlow, Alivia Bouchey, Owen Bouchey, Berkley Carr and Liam Hayes.  Her siblings, Hank (Kathy) Bouchard, Paula (Phil) Jacques, Gail Bouchard and Barbara (Jack) Townsend as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Gary Bouchard and Paul (Theresa) Marlow.
