Gail E. Sharland, age 73 of Ogdensburg passed away on November 14, 2023 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center with her family by her side.(Funeral Home)

OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) - Funeral services for Gail E. Sharland, age 73 of Ogdensburg will be held at 3PM on Monday (November 20, 2023) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Mark Lalonde officiating.

Calling hours will be held also on Monday (November 20, 2023) from 1PM to 3PM at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Sharland passed away on November 14, 2023 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center with her family by her side.

Surviving are two sons Kenneth Sharland of Ogdensburg, Gregory (Lori) Sharland of Colton; a daughter Dawn (Joe) Tebo of Russell; grandchildren Brittany (Jake) Thornton, Brandy Sharland, Isaac Eggleson, Chloee (Sam) Eller, Joey Tebo and Kristyn Tebo; great-grandchildren Blaire, CJ, Scarlett, Melinda & Wyatt; two brothers David Smith & his companion Debbie Kennedy of Ogdensburg and Bruce (Susan) Smith of Buffalo; a sister Sandy (Sam) Sanyet of Irmo, SC; her cats Sonny, Cher & Lobo; along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Gail was born on October 3, 1950 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late Edward & Geraldine (Powers) Smith. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued her education at Mater Dei College and received a Physical Therapy degree. Gail was enlinsted in the US Airforce from 1969 until 1971 when she received her honorable discharge.

Gail worked at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as a therapy aid from 1970 to 2007 when she retired. She then worked part-time for the next two years as a mental hygiene therapist. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, reading, gardening, knitting, crocheting, crafts, haunted houses during Halloween, games, playing cards, scrabble, and spending time with her family.
